Blue Turban

I did this painting, and a companion piece, Red Turban, while posted to Kabul, Afghanistan as Assistant Chief of Mission in 2011-2012.   I was struck by the variety, strength and character of many of the faces I saw, and tried to capture some of that in these watercolor sketches.  

This painting is framed, and currently on the wall in my home in Maine, a reminder of my time in an extraordinary place. Image size is 11 inches high and 6 inches wide, floated on glass in a wooden frame 15 inches high and 10 inches wide.
