Boatyard in Winter

This is a view of the Yarmouth Boat Yard in winter, as seen from the town landing on the opposite side of the Royal River tidal estuary.  I wanted to record this scene because it contrasts so vividly with the hustle, bustle and color of the same yard in summer.  Boats are out of the water and cocooned in white shrink wrap.  Docks and floats are piled by the shore.  A lone truck stands in the drive by the maintenance buildings.  The river and tidal flats are partially frozen over, but patches of darker, open water show in places.  A scattering of small seabirds sit in the water, a few larger ones wheel above.

This 10" x 13" painting is framed to 16" x 18" in pickled ash with a warm white mat and museum-quality Optium anti-reflective, anti-UV glazing.
