Ars Longa Vita Brevis

I'm composing this blogpost the day after my return from a visit to Athens and Thessaloniki. I stayed two days in Athens, visiting with friends, then headed to Thessaloniki to attend the opening of Watercolor International 6 on September 26. It was my first time back to Greece since 2016 and a real treat.

Watercolor International 6 is a biannual exhibit of watercolor painting by artists from around the world, curated by Greek artist George Politis. The exhibit will run to the end of October so if you're in the area, please stop in.  While there for the opening, I met many top-flight artists and attended both workshops and demos. It was a joy to watch them paint. George selected my "Donkeys Waiting for a Fare, Hydra" for the exhibit. I have shared photos of the event on both Facebook and Instagram (ddpearcefineart). 

The exhibit is at the EMS Gallery, 1 Nikolaou Germanou Street, on September 26 from 6:30-8:30 pm. That is directly across the street from Thessaloniki's landmark White Tower.

Moser Gallery Art Talk Nov 1

In October I will be working with my friends at Thos. Moser and Bowdoin College's Alumni Relations Office to put together an exhibition of some 30 paintings. All will be framed and available for sale. Called " At Home Abroad", the exhibit will be available for viewing at the Moser showroom in Freeport Oct 30 to Nov 5 and will feature work of this Bowdoin alumnus from both my home state of Maine and from overseas postings including Greece, Algeria and Afghanistan. 

For the occasion I have done a new watercolor painting of Massachusetts Hall, the oldest building on the Bowdoin campus. It's now on hold and at the framers but will be made available for sale during the "At Home Abroad" exhibit.
