Gull

This painting is based on a reference photo I took of a lone gull perched on a rock at Portland Head Light in Cape Elizabeth, Maine.  I went big with it -- 21 x 28 inches -- because I felt a larger format was needed to capture the extent of the domain the bird surveys.  Getting the gimlet eye of the gull right took a lot of painstaking work as did the individual brush strokes for the feathers.  

Seagull, Cape Elizabeth has been framed to 30 x 37 inches.
